Joe and Livia's destination wedding
I hinted that I was working on a special wedding community lot, and I think I mentioned that I got one of De's grandkids married. So here is the photo album, partly as a present for De. Congrats on winning that prize!

Livia, as I said, is one of De's grandchildren with Cassius; her mother is Renee/cowforbrains. Joe is a third generation Pleasure sim spare who hung out at college for about a hundred years before I played him through. He moved in with his best buddy Elroy, Elroy's husband, the vampire Count Whoopie, and Elroy's mom and dad, the alien Judy Jetson and the plantsim Ratna Midlock. Joe was the odd man out, the sort-of-normal one, but he fit in because he was dating Robin's former heiress, Sugar Darling, who is a zombie in my game. However, Joe met Livia, and they get along much better.

For all that he's a Pleasure Sim, Joe has never WooHooed at all. So he's probably looking forward to this. Joe, you know, some people WooHoo before marriage. Some people never bother to get married at all.
Joe: Yes, but I'm Remington Harris' son, and I have no imagination.
He really does look like Remington now that he's had his nose job, doesn't he? He's also Sunny's brother, and that kind of breaks the mind, even though there are several others hanging around town. I hardly ever play them, though I might age up Moonbeam. It's ridiculous that she's older than her own daughter.
All that remained was to move him in with Livia and her parents. However. . .

Livia: He said no.
Huh? I don't get this; you're engaged and you're at 100/100.
Livia: HATE.
And she looks scarily like Renee. Maybe you ought to ask again?

Joe: Gee honey, I changed my mind, and I'm bringing in 25,000 Simoleans!
Livia: THAT'S better.
Joe gets along well with Livia's father Septimus. Septimus is one of De's three kids with Cassius. He's Family, and he's recently permaplat, now that Livia graduated from college. There was an annoying little glitch where Renee got the permaplat token and he didn't. I gave him one anyway. He earned it!

Joe: Your daughter sure is hot.
Septimus: She sure is.
Renee, however, seems to scare him:

Joe: Is it too late to get out of this?
Yep.
We could have a boring old wedding in the back yard, but why do that, when in the shadow of Takemizu Mountain. . .

. . .you could visit the Takemizu Wedding Temple!

It has everything for the happy couple and their guests, including a food stand (just visible, on the right) and a Lucky Shrine.

It's got a Zen Garden useful for relieving the stress of fathers-in-law.

Bride-to-be didn't pack her wedding dress? No problem, George McCarthy, our courteous and popular foreign exchange student, will be happy to sell her one, along with an array of tasteless souvenirs.

The upstairs also contains a dance floor, a spot for wedding cake, and a cash bar. Because everyone needs a cash bar.
The focal point of our wedding temple is the wedding arch. You too can have bored tourists at your wedding.

Just a chance for you to admire the katanas I've placed on the wall. Your marriage can be symbolized by peace and prosperity (the cherry blossom scrolls) or the katanas (plenty of strife.) Only one way to find out! But Joe and Livia seem fairly happy, and Joe isn't even fazed by her family anymore. It can't be odder than Count Whoopie coming into his room while he was asleep just to "bleh!" at him.

Serious part of the wedding over, it's time to head upstairs for some dancing and some cake!

I used InSim to summon some of my Sims to the lot. Many of them left right away, with two notable exceptions:

Flavius: Oh, hey there, Renee.
Flavius is always up for a party, any time, anywhere. And I wasn't missing the chance to see how the lot worked out.

With the cake cut, the happy couple can now return downstairs for a relaxing and traditional--sort of--tea ceremony:

Joe: How's the tea? Is it ok? Did I burn it?
I have a weakness for dim-bulb Sims. Joe has never been the sharpest crayon in the box, nor has this guy:

Flavius: Is this Tai Chi? Am I doing it wrong? Cause I'm not getting inner peace yet. Oh, wait, no--that's not it.
Thanks to Flavius, I now have Tai Chi in my neighborhood, along with the hula. If you seem to have some trouble getting to learn the native dances, just go somewhere with a speaker, and bring along an uncontrollable Sim. They'll learn the dance with no problem, and you can just learn from them. Even Cecil knows the hula now and it's a disturbing sight to see.

Even though the evening ended with the mother of the bride being chased by bees, all agreed it was a lovely wedding.
I have a few glitches to work out, mostly on how to get the guests to come if they're not staying there. There's no reason not to put one in your regular hood, though, and I thought it made a nice change from the usual wedding stuff. It's entirely Maxis decorated, with a few things (like the lot debugger) that is easily removed, and a recolor on the wedding arch. If people think they want it, I'll be happy to upload a CC free copy.
I have some more photos of birthday parties for the Mortimer branch of the family and of some of Marina's kids getting together. One will come as a surprise, I think.
