Re:  When do I get those flippin' EPs for Mac already?

Dear Prof:

We here at Aspyr really enjoy your communications.  We've told you repeatedly that we've got no official line on when if ever we will port Free Time, Apartment Life, or any of the SPs for Mac.  EA is being a pain about that.  We've got troubles of our own. Still, the combination of groveling politeness and veiled threats never ceases to amuse us.

In your most recent email, you indicated that you would be celebrating a birthday shortly.  We were curious and looked up your registration data, and while we were at it, your financial records, your dental data, your voter registration, and the names of all your childhood pets.  (You had a cat named Nussbaum?  Seriously?) Anyway, we also noticed your age.  We realized that you were much too old to be worrying about computer games, and that you ought to be more concerned about middle-aged spread, varicose veins, retirement, and reconciling yourself to meeting your Maker, not necessarily in that order.

This made us very sad.  We thought about urging you to get a life, but decided that this would probably be futile.

So we decided to send you free copies of all the EPs and SPs for Mac!  That's right:  a copy of the much-coveted Celebration Stuff is on its way to you!  Those dull uninspired cakes are now a thing of the past!  You will be able to toss those multiple weddings without expiring from boredom!  Your Romance Sims can have cool vibrating beds that you will probably never let them use! We even have something for your freakishly celibate malcontent Cecil--the Giant Fish Tank of Wonder! Enjoy them in good health!---

Nah, not really.  We were just yanking your chain.  Happy birthday anyway, and keep those pathetic requests comin'.

Love,

Those Crazy Cats at Aspyr

This is the part where I smack both Aspyr and EA up the side of the head because this not being able to come to an agreement on the EPs is irritating. We're going to get Sims 3 before we get the rest of the Sims 2 packs, just watch.

So true. *sigh*

So I was thinking this morning about a possible new plan of attack. What if we started barraging EA with emails and kindly asking them to please get a move on and stop being difficult so we can have these EPs before Sims 2 becomes obsolete?

Also, happy birthday! Are you dressing up for the holiday?

I wish I were dressing up, in a way. I don't really have anyplace to go. Sometimes I'll wear my Cambridge batwings or my Gryffindor cloak, and if I'm really up for it, the rest of my Lupin-ish clothes, but it's pretty hot today.

I think if we do letters, we ought to aim them at EA. From what I understand, they are the ones who are really dragging their feet. Aspyr gets inundated from the Mac people, and while it might be helpful for them to say, "we just got 10,000 more emails begging us for the EP and SP ports," it's EA who has to offer them the contract.

I'm not sure where we're supposed to address customer suggestions and complaints, though. Usually they kick Mac-related stuff over to Aspyr. Feh.

This right here is why I just laugh and laugh when you tell me that Macs pwn all. I mean, I'm sure in all other ways they're superior or whatevs, but if I'm cut off from my simming then no, it does not win ANYTHING. (Me? Too obsessed with this game? Nah...)

Happy birthday, Prof! And Happy Halloween as well!

It sucks that you can't get those EPs/SPs. I know how much you're dying for new wedding cakes and Secondary Aspirations and Cuddle in Bed. And Gigantic Fishtank O'Wonderfulness, natch.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did with Sims 3 what they did with Spore and release it for PCs and Macs at the same time.

I wouldn't have a huge problem with that, though I'm not all that excited about Sims 3 yet. I'd like to see the first patches and CC first, and find out what the problems are before I play it. Also, there's no room for anything on this computer, and especially not enough RAM. So I probably will wind up with a new laptop before I buy any new games. (New EPs will be tricky enough!)

Happy Birthday! I wish I could give you the eps and sps you dont' have yet, but unfortunately I don't know where Aspyr lives to go threaten them.

Happy birthday, Prof!

And yeah, it's getting really frustrating. Not that I really need FT or AL right now (since they pretty much break the Apocalypse challenge), but the Stuff Packs would be nice, and I'd like to have them before I start a Legacy!

Happy Birthday Professor!

Maybe if we all blow out candles with the same wish for the EP's to be released for Mac's, Aspyr and EA will feel a cosmic shift in the universe and finally relent.

Nah, probably not, but at least we'll all have cake - with turquoise frosting - just for your birthday anyway!

Happy Birthday!

I also wanted to say - I saw a reply you had to a thread about Sims 3, and it really got me thinking. I can't imagine your legacy without people like Mortimer or Lytton or Cecil, and they really are taking that capability away, aren't they? :(

I'm sorry you don't have the EP and SP, too. I hope they get off their butts soon. We should totally be organizing a letter writing campaign.

Happy Birthday and Halloween. You're the third person I know more than a name with a birthday today (unless you count the twin of the second which I only met once). Have fun, and send Aspyr a trick or treat bag full of rocks. I'll send one to EA.

Lauri

Weeellll--I kind of had a spam attack. Sometime about 10:30 pm, a site started sending me messages--all of them saying "happy birthday." Since it was my work email, there wasn't a thing I could do about it until morning. Four hundred emails, I kid you not. Took hours to straighten that one out. The only up side was that it really forced me to clean out my email boxes. But it ate up a large part of my day.
